Universal Chi

I remember once
standing on the gravel
off of K Street in Arcata
a sudden awareness
a physical sensation
of the pulsation of the Cosmos
lifeforce consciousness
flowing through all matter
the heartbeat of eternity
surging in the ground
coursing up through my feet
pulse traversing the length
of my legs
and into my heart
I am energy and life
a pinpoint of light
from the vast molecular
matrix of stardust
condensed into a small being
an earthling-
for this one brief moment
of distinct lifetime
I am spinning
into and out of
the center of it
in constant motion

It is all one medium
which flows around you
through you
this field of spacetime
you are unfolding your Self into

It becomes dissolved
into the ecosystem
one day barely perceived,
indistinct from resource
it’s alchemical properties
taken for granted
even while daily celebrated;
it’s chemistry abstracted
in emulsion
though each molecule
was so carefully,
discretely compounded
into tincture
